This is an exceptionally Rare Black Forest shelf Mantle Cuckoo Clock handcrafted in 1870. Exquisite gold leaves and grape vines have been hand-carved into the Walnut case at the turn of the century. The Walnut dial has black Roman numerals and the brass gilt hands are very distinctive of the Black Forest style. The inner works are in excellent condition. The dimensions are: Height: 16 Inches, Width: 11 Inches and Depth: 5 Inches. It was purchased at Woburn Abby, Bedford in 1974. The original receipt is still intact and entails the history and origin of this noteworthy collector’s item.
